The Morning Call in Allentown, Pa., has a newly created Audience GA position designed to quickly identify trending topics and stories, giving our digital subscribers a robust reading experience. This position is a fast-paced beat, but it's not just one beat. It covers a range of topics that our most loyal readers value at any moment. The role requires a person who can use data to develop stories and is well versed in digital metrics. This reporter will look for fresh, interesting local and regional stories in various online communities and deliver those stories in a quick and timely manner. You should be able to create and curate highly engaging, local content targeted to our subscribers. In breaking news events, you'll identify reporting opportunities, potential sources and user-generated content for a compelling online package. The Morning Call is a Tribune Company newspaper, located in the thriving Lehigh Valley, 60 miles north of Philadelphia and 90 miles west of New York City.

  • Pitch (or be assigned) and report stories that will appear online and in print.
  • Use a variety of media -- text, still photo, video, etc. -- to best effect in storytelling
  • Use social media to promote content and spark community discussion.
  • Use news awareness and audience metrics/analytics to refine coverage.
  • Ensure that content is optimized for search engines and social media sharing
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or Communications preferred.
  • Reporting experience with a daily newspaper.
  • Good working knowledge with various Social Media platforms


  • Experienced with content management systems.
  • Excellent writing, reporting and editing skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to remain organized and follow through on assignments timely.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
