Digital Producer, Newsroom

The Virginian-Pilot is looking for a digital producer to help manage and develop its social media accounts. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, flexible, detail-oriented and digitally savvy. We’re looking for someone who will play a key day-to-day role in our newsroom.Here are a few reasons you should join our newsroom:

Responsibilities

• Responsible for planning and day to day management of all social media accounts, tracking and reporting. This includes writing posts and creating custom images, GIFs, videos, etc.; and creating in-depth quarterly reports on all Pilot social media accounts.

• Work with reporters and editors to write compelling, reader-friendly and SEO-friendly headlines and optimize story presentation.

• Play an active role in developing, planning and driving The Pilot’s social and digital initiatives and programs while maintaining brand voice and ensuring clear and consistent brand messaging.

• Analyze and report web analytics and make recommendations to improve user experience, drive traffic and increase the subscriber base.

• Help train newsroom staff on new tools or digital initiatives.

• Fill in as necessary in other digital roles.

• This position includes some weekend work.

• Previous experience in a newsroom (newspaper, TV or radio) or digital news enterprise is preferred.
