Overview

Orlando Sentinel/ Sun Sentinel is seeking a Sales Trainer who can leverage their previous sales experience to mentor and develop our sales representatives into enterprise-grade sellers.  You will take ownership of each seller’s performance while executing our sales playbook and utilizing our CRM.  Scope for this position includes sales team training, new employee onboarding, product/systems training and communication to the organization on strategic initiatives and tools.  The local media industry faces strategic challenges; thus candidates should be comfortable with high pressure and rapid change.  This position is ideal for someone that has a successful track record in sales, proven ability to work well in the trenches, and a passion for media. 

Responsibilities

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Determine specialized training needs by observing selling events, reviewing sales analysis/reporting, and gathering feedback from sales management. This means that, at times, you will be customer-facing; thus your sales experience is important to the particular sales process.
  • Conduct training using a variety of instructional techniques and delivery methods, including classroom-based learning, virtual learning, and in-field training/coaching.
  • Develop and manage reporting around the effectiveness/impact and ROI of all training programs and initiatives.
  • Increase adoption of technology, tools, and processes that improve our sales efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Local market CRM champion to share best practice system utilization by sales reps and managers, reporting and discuss system changes/upgrades.
  • Work with Multimedia Sales and Project Manager and local sales leadership on annual sales initiatives, sales contest/blitzes and projects to recommending necessary training/tools needed to ensure the market achieves their sales goals and be a project lead on some initiatives.
  • Work with vendors to schedule available product/system training and build relationships within Tribune and in the local community in order to utilize subject matter experts to enhance local knowledge and bring in different training voices.
  • Coordinate with local and corporate marketing teams to assist with push marketing messages and lead generation in key categories, track leads through the process and assist sales reps with the sales process to close.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of enterprise sales and marketing experience in media or marketing services with a solid understanding of fundamental sales process, and marketing principles including online/digital, promotions, product development, competitive media.
  • Expert skills in Powerpoint, Excel, CRM programs; curiosity and drive to learn and explore new skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Organizationally-savvy: Ability to collaborate with stakeholders up and down the organization, including senior sales leadership, sales management, Human Resources, corporate management as well as sales reps and support employees.
  • Self-starter: Ability to create materials based on quantitative (performance analysis) and qualitative (sales meeting observation) factors.
  • Multi-tasker: Ability to manage multiple deadline-oriented projects concurrently and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Balance: Ability to be strategic, analytical, creative, communicative, and detail-oriented
  • Travel: Some travel might be necessary, primarily between the two Florida properties. Less than 10%.
