Tribune Publishing is seeking a Director of Programmatic who will be responsible for staffing, workflow, technical setup, needs analysis and decision making that will ensure maximum yield and all programmatic goals are met. Primarily managing revenue partnerships, this role will intersect with Product and Engineering to optimize digital ad mapping and related to drive programmatic revenue. 


This role will be fully remote and can be based in any of these states: CA, CT, FL, IL, IN, MD, NJ, NY, OH, OR, TN, VA, WI.

  • Develop and Lead Yield Managers and Programmatic Sales team
    • Provide solutions for execution based on recommendations
    • Source opportunities for career development and secure approval from VP
    • Ensure proper training and resources
    • Meet weekly to provide feedback and address issues/concerns
    • Hold bi-weekly or monthly full team meetings as needed
    • Consider staffing or workflow changes as needed
  • Partnerships
    • Attend potential partner phone calls
    • Approve partnerships and/or provide feedback on partners presented by Manager or Seller
    • Work with Manager or Seller to define partnership success metrics
    • Attend weekly, monthly or as needed partnership calls for implementation and ongoing support
    • Review ROI on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis as presented by Manager and communicate to VP
    • Stay in touch with high-level partner contacts to ensure partnership is going as expected and resolve any issues
  • Project Management
    • Establish timelines for all new partner and technical rollouts
    • Stay looped in on all persons/teams involved in execution
    • Set deadlines and work with teams to ensure deadlines are met
  • Programmatic Sales
    • Attend industry events to gain and share best practices, network and build industry relationships
    • Work with PR and look for opportunities to speak or give interviews
    • Proactively build relationships with larger agencies, trading desks and buyers - in an effort to close deals
    • Review and approve negotiations of deals as presented by Seller, Manager or Direct Fulfillment
  • Contracts and Invoicing
    • Review all programmatic contracts in the negotiation phase and be the billing point of contact
    • Decide on all renewals and negotiate terms as needed
    • Stay informed of all contracts and projects on the plate of the Vendor Management Analyst and assist as needed
    • Handle all programmatic invoices in OnBase
  • Market Support
    • Evaluate the weekly flash and all revenue reporting
    • Hold regular meetings with markets and stakeholders to review programmatic performance and provide updates
    • Respond to any escalated market issues
    • Consider and provide any programmatic strategy changes as needed


  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5+ years’ experience
  • Prior Revenue Management / Pricing experience preferred
  • Strong leadership skills: ability to direct activities of individual team members towards goals
  • Self-motivated, high EQ, strong analytical thinking skills and the ability to translate findings into actionable solutions and realistic recommendations; ability to understand, interpret and communicate complex data
  • Results-oriented with ability to initiate and lead projects to completion; capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate, collaborate, and influence effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Able to establish and attain high standards for self and team; able to make decisions and solve problems
  • Team player with the ability to excel in an agile, collaborative, and ambiguous environment
  • Proficiency in Office 365, including Excel and PowerPoint
