We're hiring an Electrician to join our team at the Chicago Tribune! A Maintenance Electrician for the Chicago Tribune Maintenance Department is responsible for the electrical maintenance along with repair of the production related equipment to ensure maximum availability and reliability to the users at our manufacturing facility, known as The Freedom Center.
This role will be working 3rd shift - a very active time for our facility as we finish printing our daily newspapers. The pay is $36 per hour.
The Freedom Center, located near River North, is where the Chicago Tribune--and many other newspapers--are printed. Enormous 1-ton rolls of paper are brought in by train and truck and stacked high in a cavernous warehouse. The rolls feed 10 large offset web printing presses, where cylinders with aluminum press plates and rubber blankets transfer ink to paper at blazing speeds. Inserting machines are then used to place millions of targeted advertising flyers into the newspaper for delivery.
Our organization is committed to hiring people with diverse backgrounds, voices and visions. Be yourself. Bring yourself. Because that’s the only way we will deliver on our mission to provide meaningful journalism to the diverse communities we serve. We hold ourselves accountable for fostering inclusion and opportunity across race, gender, age, creed, identity and experience. Join us.
